Indie Dyers - Aya Fibres

I've been wanting to do a series of posts on my favourite indie dyers for a while now, there are so many talented individuals creating hand dyed yarn just in the UK and Europe that they definitely deserve a little corner of the internet devoted to them. So it was serendipitous when, month or so ago, I was lucky enough to do a very happy 'yarn bag in exchange for yarn' swap with the marvellous Aya Fibres who is based in Germany. I created a rather gorgeous custom knitting bag for her which I was really pleased with!

I was excited to receive my yarn and when it arrived it was even nicer than I thought it would be - Mara had promised to include a mini skein that would go perfectly with the main purple sock yarn I had chosen and she didn't disappoint. I kept picking up the skeins and squidging them gently after they arrived, they are so beautiful.

Lush, eh? I will be using the mini skein to do a contrasting heel and toe for the purple when I make socks with it. And Purple Yarn (which is a colourway called Daydream) gets a little sneak preview as I'm using some of that to do contrasting heels and toes on another pair I am currently working on in Regia Arne and Carlos Starry Night colourway. Pictures soon...

Anyway, the quality of the merino and nylon yarn that Mara sent me is incredible, it feels strong and durable yet incredibly soft and I completely love it. I urge you to check out her store as she has a delicious selection of colours at present which is growing all the time. You can take a peek at her shop by clicking here.
